Hostages freed from Taliban in Panjwai
KABUL (PAN) Three Afghans held hostage by the Taliban were rescued by an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) patrol in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province, the alliance said on Friday.
The ISAF unit, Task Force Arrowhead, observed a number of insurgents loading three men, bound and blindfolded, onto a trailer towed by a tractor. The patrol pursued and stopped the tractor, the force said in a statement.
The hostages were freed and their three captors detained, it said, adding the detainees were later identified as Taliban members.
The three men had been held for up to six days and were released to district officials, the statement said.
