HERAT CITY (PAN): A man was detained on the charge of smuggling $50,000 to Iran in western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
The man, seeking to transfer the money illegally in a taxi, was held by counter-terrorism police, the police spokesman, Col. Noor Khan Nekzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Under the central bank’s rule, a person can take up to $20,000 out of the country in cash. Higher amounts are to be transferred through banks.
