WASHINGTON (PAN as their major achievements.

“The war in Afghanistan is coming to a close. Al Qaeda has been decimated, and Osama bin Laden is dead,” Obama said at a well-attended election meeting in Lima, Ohio, a key electoral battle ground. Experts believe a win on Ohio is key to Obama’s reelection.

Biden echoed Obama’s view at another election rally in Wisconsin “We ended the war in Iraq.  We are going to end the war in Afghanistan.”

Unlike the previous 2008 election, Afghanistan has not appeared as a major issue between the two candidates, with Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney agreeing on the 2014 deadline for troop withdrawal.

While the main focus has been on economic conditions, Obama and Biden have been listing Afghanistan as their major foreign policy achievement.

“Because of the service and sacrifice of our brave men and women in uniform, the war in Iraq is over. The war in Afghanistan is ending. Al-Qaeda has been decimated. Osama bin Laden is dead,” Obama remarked.
