12 militants join reconciliation process (Video)

HERAT CITY (PAN): A rebel group, including the commanders, joined the national reconciliation program in western Herat province, an official said.

Led by Mula Baz Mohammad, 11-member group renounced the insurgency as a result of efforts by the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Afghan spy service, which said the individuals also turned their weapons.

We were operating in the in the Koshki Rabat-i-Sangi district against government and foreign forces , but now as foreign troops are leaving our country there is no need for more opposition and I request other militant groups who are currently operating to join the national reconciliation program, said Mawlawi Ewaz a member of the surrendered group.

The insurgents were operating in the Koshki Rabat-i-Sangi district of the Heart province against government and foreign troops, said Governor of Heart province Daud Shah Saba.

He added, from the start of reconciliation program 63 militant including 703 members joined the national reconciliation program in western Herat province.
