KABUL spikers jerked into action with the beginning of a volleyball tournament in the central capital Kabul on Sunday, organisers said.
Arranged by the Afghan Athletes Network (AAN), the three-day event is being held at the 202nd Shamshad Zone Police Headquarters volley court.
Syed Mahmud Zia Dashti, the AAN head, said the competition was aimed to foster better coordination between female volleyball players and policewomen.
Five teams — two from the Shamshad Police Zone and one each from the Kabul University of Education, its Physical Fitness Department and Al-Zahra Association — are taking part in the tournament.
