    Insurgent leader among 4 detained

    KUNDUZ/MAIMANA (PAN): A key Taliban commander was among four people detained during operations in northern Faryab and Kunduz provinces, an official said on Thursday. 

    In Faryab, two insurgents were arrested from a house in the Tovachi village of Andkhoi district on Wednesday night, said the police chief, Maj. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahkhel.

    He told Pajhwok Afghan News seven hand grenades and two other weapons were seized from the suspected militants, including Mullah Shahabuddin, the key Taliban commander for the district.

    A statement from the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said two suspected fighters were held during a joint operation in Kunduz province.  A rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), a mortar, hand grenades and a number of light weapons were seized.
