SHARAN (PAN): The process of distributing wheat to deserving families was launched in the southeastern province of Paktika on Sunday, an official said.
Up to 355 tonnes of wheat were available in agriculture department’s stocks for distribution to the needy families, the acting director of agriculture, irrigation and livestock said.
Nazirullah Ayubi told Pajhwok Afghan News the lists of needy families had been submitted by local councils to the agriculture department. Each family will receive 100 kilograms of wheat.
Tribal elder Haji Hamid, who was waiting for receiving the aid, hoped the assistance would be distributed in a transparent manner. Last year, he recalled, the distribution process was marred by irregularities.
