ASADABAD (PAN): Six patrolling Afghan security officials were injured in an insurgent attack in the eastern province of Kunar, officials said on Friday.

The gun attack took place on Thursday evening in the Duband area of Dangam district, police spokesman Sher Ali told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The injured included three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, two policemen and a National Directorate of Security (NDS facility of Afghan forces.

The attackers came from Pakistan, lower house, from Kunar.

The Taliban have asserted responsibility for the assault, with their spokesman saying six soldiers died as a result. The fighters stormed the district headquarters, the Taliban said, a claim dismissed by local security officials.
