JALALABAD (PAN): About 4,000 litres smuggled acids were seized by Customs officials in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Twenty barrels of acid, used in manufacturing drugs, were seized from a mini-truck, Customs Director Ehsanullah Kamawal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Imported from Korea, the acid reached the province after custom clearance from western Herat, southern Kandahar and central Kabul provinces, he said.
Millions of dollars were offered in bribery for the contraband’s clearance, claimed the director. The owner and driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
