The incident took place on Friday afternoon on the outskirts of the district, provincial police chief, Col. Ghulam Rasul Nuristani, told Pajhwok Afghan New.

He said the insurgents’ bodies were still lying at the scene. A policeman was also wounded and evacuated to hospital, where his condition is said stable. Police also seized a large quantity of ammunitions.

But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said only three fighters were wounded in the clash. Without giving specific figures, he claimed inflicting heavy casualties on police.
