TIRINKOT (PAN): An engineer with a telecommunication firm was killed on Sunday by a roadside bomb that tore through his car in the Dehrawud district of central Uruzgan province, an official said.
The victim, who worked for the UAE-based Etisalat mobile phone service, died in the incident that took place around 10am in the district’s centre, said Aminullah Khalaqi, the town’s administrative chief.
The engineer travelled to the area under police escort to repair a tower, the official said, adding a policeman also sustained shrapnel injuries in the blast that comprehensively destroyed the engineer’s vehicle.
