KABUL (PAN): Four of the 11 ministers, summoned by their lower house over under-spending their development funds, failed to appear before the Wolesi Jirga on Monday.
On Saturday, the deputy speaker warned that lawmakers could bring no-confidence motions against the ministers if they did not turn up to answer queries regarding their inability to utilise their development budgets.
Haji Abdul Qadir, a powerful lawmaker from eastern Nangarhar province, told reporters the government had sent the legislature a letter, saying three of the ministers did not hold their current portfolios last year.
However, Qadir insisted all those summoned had to appear before the national assembly because the matter was of a great importance with regard to the country’s development.
