Nine suspects detained in Nangarhar
JALALABAD (PAN): Nine suspected militants were arrested in two separate join operations in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, officials said.
Three suspects were held during an operation by Afghan and NATO-led forces in the Khalis Family area of Behsud district, a provincial military official said.
Noman Hatifi, spokesman for the 201st Selab Corps told Pajhwok Afghan News 11 weapons were seized from the detainees after they displayed hostile intent. He said the operation would take two more days to complete.
Six more men were detained with a gun in the Wazir area of Khogyani district during in a join offensive, said Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, the provincial police spokesman.
A statement from the International Security Assistance Force, meanwhile, confirmed the arrest of a Taliban facilitator in Khogyani district.
The detainee allegedly enabled the distribution of weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive devices and suicide vests for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
