KABUL Abdul Ghani Baradar — the group’s former second-in-command.
Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani told reporters in Dubai on Friday: “The remaining (Afghan) detainees, we are coordinating, and they will be released subsequently.”
After talks with acting US special representative David Pearce and Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Luddin, the diplomat said Mullah Baradar would also be freed.
The meeting was aimed to discuss security and political dimensions of relations among the three countries, the Afghan deputy minister said, adding the peace process had gained momentum in recent weeks.
Over 100 Afghan prisoners including Baradar, who was detained in Karachi in 2010, are said to be in Pakistan’s custody.
