Kunduz woman commits suicide

KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): A 34 years old woman has committed suicide for reasons yet to be known in the northern province of Kunduz, officials said on Sunday.

The woman, who married six years ago, killed herself in Dasht-i-Archi district on Saturday evening, said the town’s administrative head.

Sheikh Sadruddin told Pajhwok Afghan News the motive behind the suicide remained unknown, but an investigation into the indent had been launched.

The post-mortem report showed the woman had died of eating a rat poison, said the police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini. Her spouse is being interrogated.

Director of Women’s Affairs Nadira Gayah believed domestic tension could be a factor behind the incident: “She would never commit suicide if she had no family problems.”
