KABUL Universities.

Speaking to journalists in Kabul University, Minister of Higher Education Obaidullah Obaid said that over 50,000 candidates who completed high school education would participate in the five rounds of the entry tests.

Nearly 190,000 students would take part in similar tests across the country, he said. Of them, 44,000 would be enrolled in higher and 33,000 in semi-higher state-run education institutes. The second phase in the capital is slated for Monday and the remaining three for next week.

Obaid said 28 faculties and 128 departments had been established within the framework of state-run universities this Afghan calendar year.  According to the minister, results of the entry test will be announced on Feb. 18.

Mohammad Farid, who passed his 12th grade exams from Mohammad Alam Faiz Zad High School, said he was eyeing admission to the faculty of Political Science.
