GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A large quantity of explosives and drugs were sized during operations in southern Ghazni and central Maidan Wardak provinces, military officials said on Tuesday.
About 35 jerrycans full of explosives were seized in Andar district of the Ghazni province, Col. Ahmad Jan Mukhlis, a spokesman for the 203rd Thunder Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Militants wanted to use the explosive materials in bomb-making, but they were captured on the basis of a tip-off, he said, adding nobody had been arrested in connection with the explosives.
Elsewhere, explosives and 800 kilograms of drugs were seized in the Zarha Dara area on the outskirts of Maidan Shahr, the capital of Maidan Wardak, Mukhlis said.
During the operations by Afghan security forces, 300 kg of drugs, 500 kg of explosives and ammunitions had been seized, he claimed.
