ZARANJ (PAN): Six Quick Reaction Force officials were injured during a roadside bombing in western Herat province, bordering Iran, on Wednesday.
The blast occurred on the Herat-Islam Qala highway, deputy police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the vehicle was damaged in the blast. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but officials often blame the Taliban for such attack.
A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said one policeman was killed in the explosion, which happened in Zanda Jan district.
Provincial police spokesman, Col. Noor Khan Nekzad, said the explosives had been attached to a bicycle. He added the injured were shifted to hospital.
Herat Zonal Hospital spokesman Dr. Rafiq Sherzai said seven injured policemen, currently under treatment, had been brought from the scene.
