KHOST CITY (PAN): A delegation of tribal elders, coming all the way from the Qalandar district to the capital of southeastern Khost province, met the governor on Thursday and presented him a list of development projects needed by the impoverished town.
The elders sought health projects, including a building for the district centre, a brief statement from the governor’s office said.
Murad Khan Mangal, who spoke on behalf of his companions at the meeting with Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi, said residents of Qalandar districts had been supportive of the incumbent government’s policies and acts.
He complained the town, despite its strategic location, could not be properly connected to the capital because the highway had long been presenting a gloomy picture. Mangal continued the dwellers were in dire need of health clinics and education facilities.
Naeemi, acknowledging the district’s strategic significance, said he had discussed with officials in Kabul and international agencies developments projects for Qalandar. He added the proposed schemes included a new building for the district headquarters, schools and health centres.
