LASHKARGAH (PAN (HPC), 200 residents completed a vocational training course in southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
The six months tailoring, carpentry, embroidery, painting and curtain-sewing course was attended by 140 males and 60 females.
Wahidullah Ulfat, Tawheed Social Development Organisation chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the course was funded by the Ministry o f Labour, Social, Martyrs and Disabled Affairs.
Among the participants, eight were former Taliban fighters, Ulfat said, adding each trainee was paid $100 a month.
Lal Mohammad Ahmadi, secretary to the governor, said that they were trying to extend such courses to districts as well.
Abdur Rahman, who completed the course, said he had been trained in fixing generators. He acknowledged learning technical skills during the course.
