Hassan to play for Barisal Burners in BPL

KABUL for Dhaka, the game’s regularity authority in Kabul said.

Afghanistan Cricket Board Chief Executive Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad told Pajhwok Afghan News Hassan had completely recovered from his knee injury and had been on tough exercises, besides taking part matches in the Pakistani city of Lahore ahead of being signed.

Hassan suffered a nasty injury during a Test match between the ICC combined-XI and England in Dubai about two years ago when he fell over a fence on the boundary and collided with concrete and metal runners around the sightscreen. He was eventually cleared of serious injury after being taken to hospital on a stretcher.

Murad said it was an honour that Hassan would represent Afghanistan in the tournament that he said was of international standards and could become a global tournament to match up Indian Premier League soon as long as the franchises as well as BCB keep faith in its development. 

Afghanistan’s national cricket team manager Shafiqullah Stanikzai told Pajhwok from Pakistan that Hassan’s performance during a match in Lahore on Thursday was remarkable.

“Like in the past, Hassan completed his ten overs spell without any problem and dismissed three batsmen,” he said, calling Hassan’s recovery good news for Afghanistan cricket and his fans.

Mohammad Nabi was the first to be signed. He was followed by another two — Shahpur Zadran and spinner Samiullah Shinwari — two weeks ago in response to an invitation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The pair play for Khulna Royal Bengals (KRB), a franchise team in BPL, representing the division of Khulna in the twenty20 league.
