JALALABAD (PAN): A district chief on Saturday escaped unhurt in a blast, but one of his security guards was killed in the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.

The Khogyani district chief, Haji Syed Rahman Momand, was on his way to district headquarters, when a remote-controlled bomb exploded near his vehicle in the Dagi village at around 9:30am, police spokesman, Hazrat Husain Mashriqiwal said.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the district chief was not hurt in the bomb attack. Two more guards, were injured in the explosion, were shifted  to Nangarhar Civil Hospital.

Rahman, hailing Batikot district, confirmed the blast, saying his one guard was killed and two others injured in the explosion.
