KABUL (PAN): Police detained an alleged suicide bomber after he got injured in a failed attempt to explode a bomb attached to his bicycle in the southern province of Kandahar, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Saturday.

The attacker was captured in the Zheri district on Friday afternoon after the bomb he possessed went off and injured him in the Hawz-i-Madad area, an MoI statement said. The detainee is being interrogated, it added.

The statement also said three militants were killed when explosives they were planting on a road went off prematurely in Qalat, the capital of southern Zabul province.
