PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): A mother and her two children died of severe cold weather after being trapped due to a road blockade in central Logar province, officials said on Monday.
The three were frozen to death on Sunday night in the Kharwar district, Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) head for Logar, Ajmal Stanikzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said roads connecting Azra, Charkh and Barak-i-Barak districts with the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam, have been blocked due to heavy snowfall, calling for urgent food and medicine supplies for the stranded residents.
Public Works Director Abdul Baqi Stanikzai said now-removing efforts were underway and roads blocked by snow would be reopen soon.
