Salang Pass witnesses 6-hour blackde
KABUL (PAN): The Salang Pass, a key route between Kabul and the north, was reopened on Thursday for vehicular movement after a six-hour blockade that came after the highway authorities feared possible snowstorms could snarl travel.
The highway was closed at 10am and reopened at 4pm. The closure left hundreds of commuters stranded at Tajikan area of Jabal Siraj district in central Parwan province and at Malakhan area of Khinjan district in neighbouring Baghlan, the Salang Pass Maintenance commander, Gen. Abdul Rajab, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Vehicles were allowed their journey after storm threats subsided.
