Woman found dead in Ghazni City
GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances and her body delivered to the civil hospital in Ghazni city, the capital of southern Ghazni province, medics said Saturday.
The dead body was brought to the civil hospital late on Friday night from the Ganj area on the city's outskirts, the hospital in-charge, Dr. Baaz Mohammad Himmat, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the woman had been shot in the head multiple times.
Women's affairs director Shukria Wali said the slain woman was hit by stray bullets someone fired into the air. She denied if the woman fell prey to domestic violence, saying the incident was being investigated.
But a local, Mohammad Akbar, said he was at dinner last night when he heard a few gunshots. Later it emerged some unknown gunmen had shot dead a woman, he said.
Since March 2012, at least 10 women have been killed in the province in acts of violence against them.
