AIBAK (PAN): Fifty internally displaced families are living in harsh conditions in the Khuram Sarbagh district of northern Samangan province, officials said on Wednesday.
Director Refugees Amanullah Muradi said the families, displaced from Shaghnan and Darwaz districts of Badakhshan, had arrived in Samangan last month.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News the households lacked food items, fuel, warm clothing and basic health services. Muradi called for delivering aid to the families on a priority basis.
A delegation, which recently visited the area, said 53 families comprising 300 people were living with their relatives, according to the governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Siddique Azizi.
So far, a hundred blankets and 200 bags of coal had been delivered to them by a German organisation.
Samangan Red Crescent head, Abdul Khaliq Yuldash, promised that each family would be given 70 kilograms of rice, 25 kg of beans, 15 litres of cooking oil, five kg of sugar, two kg of tea and as much salt.
