KABUL): Iran has promised to simplify the visa regime for Afghan traders and allow truckers entry into the neighbouring country, an official said on Wednesday.
The agreement, coming at the fourth two-day meeting in Kabul on transit trade between Afghanistan and Iran, was signed on Wednesday, said Jarullah Mansoori, deputy minister of transport and aviation.
He told reporters at the end of the meeting that cooperation between the neighbours in various fields would strengthen their economies. Private sector representatives also attended the meeting.
Both sides agreed to honour the new rules when enforced by the two countries, Mansoori said.
Dr. Shahriar Afandizadeh, Iran’s deputy minister of roads and transportation, said: “It is very important that both sides implement the agreement in letter and spirit.”
