KABUL (PAN): Visiting Austrian foreign minister on Saturday pledged his country’s continued cooperation in various spheres with Afghanistan during a meeting with President Hamid Karzai, the President Office said.
At the meeting with Karzai, Michael Spindelegger said Vienna was committed to continued cooperation with Kabul in diverse fields, the Karzai office said in a statement.
Austria would help Kabul strengthen education sector, said Spindelegger, who offered scholarships to Afghan diplomats and police officers to improve their capacity.
For his part, Karzai said his country would intensify efforts to improve economic relations with a number of foreign courtiers after the withdrawal of foreign troops.
Spindelegger said Austria would help Afghanistan curb crimes and crackdown on drug smuggling and poppy cultivation by giving Afghan police advanced training.
