Would-be suicide bomber detained

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): A would-be suicide bomber was caught alive in the capital of eastern Laghman province, the National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) said on Tuesday.

The individual was detained with the cooperation of local residents and a suicide jacket recovered from him, a statement from the spy service said.

Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, confirmed the bomber’s capture and said the detainee was under investigation. However, he did not provide further details.

Separately, 30 rebels in eastern Nangarhar, Kunar and northern Balkh provinces have joined the government-initiated reconciliation process.

The insurgents turned in their weapons to security officials and pledged to work for promoting reconciliation and reconstructioninfo-icon of their country.
