BRUSSELS (PAN): Afghanistan will be an important topic to be addressed at an upcoming meeting of Ministers of Defence with ISAF contributing nations, at NATO HQ/Brussels, the western alliance said on Wednesday.
That meeting will start at 09:45 on Friday 22 February. “The Ministers will be briefed by the new Commander of ISAF, General Joseph Dunford. They will be discussing the progress of transition in Afghanistan as we prepare to reach an important milestone this spring, when we will see Afghan forces assuming lead security responsibility for combat operations across the country,” Oana Lungescu, NATO Spokesperson said.
“The ISAF Ministers will be joined by their Afghan counterpart, Minister Bismullah Khan Mohammadi, as well the United Nations Special Representative, Jan Kubis, and the European Union High Representative, Cathy Ashton,” Ms. Lungescu added.
Afghan Defence Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi arrived late Tuesday night in Brussels.
