KABUL): A panel of lawyers has started taking steps to secure the release of Afghan citizens languishing in Pakistani jails for committing petty crimes, a report said on Saturday.
The legal team, constituted by the Pak-Afghan People’s Forum, recently met the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa prisons chief to get details about the Afghan inmates and the charges they are facing.
A leading newspaper quoted the forum convener, Alamzeb Khan, as saying they had planned meetings with the provincial inspector general, home secretary and the Peshawar High Court chief justice.
He told a news conference said the forum’s office-bearers in Afghanistan were trying for the release of Pakistani prisoners in that country.
