MAIMANA (PAN): The Shirin Tagab district legal officer was killed during an explosion and a driver shot dead in northern Faryab province, officials said on Monday.

The blast took place at 9am when the regal officer, Safar Mohammad, came out of his house. He died on the way to hospital, the Shirin Tagab district chief said.

Syed Loqman Gahrik, speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, accused the Taliban of conducting the remote-controlled bomb attack. However, no one has so far claimed responsibility.

Meanwhile, the body of a driver was found in the Faizabad village of the district, three weeks after his abduction, the official added.

Separately, a child was crushed to death by a police vehicle on a road in the Mandawi area of Maimana, the provincial capital. His five years old son died at hospital on Monday, said Noorullah, the victim’s father.
