FARAH CITY (PAN): Five militants were killed by their own bombs in two separate premature explosions in Pushtrud and Bakwa districts of western Farah province, officials said on Saturday.
Pushrud district chief Ghausuddin said the incident took place Friday night, insisting their bodies were still lying at the scene.
But Farah police chief police chief Brig. Gen. Aqa Noor Kintoz said three suspected insurgents were killed when one of the landmines they were planting went off prematurely.
The dead included a notorious rebel commander, Bismillah, he said, identifying the two others as Ghulam Hazrat and Mohammad Nasim, residents of Shah Mubarak and Bulandi villages of the district.
A similar blast killed a militant on a highway in Bakwa district, he said.
