30 Taliban killed, landmines defused: MoI
KABUL (PAN): Up to 30 militants were killed in a string of security operations by Afghan forces in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.
Afghan police, army and the National Directorate of Security personnel conducted the offensives in Kunar, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Kandahar, Zabul and Helmand provinces.
“As a result, 30 armed Taliban were killed, six wounded and seven others arrested by Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF),” a statement from MoI said, adding several areas had been cleared of fighters.
Police found and defused six landmines planted by the “enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities” in Ghazni and Khost, according to the statement that said a suspected drug trafficker was detained in Kabul.
