HERAT CITY (PAN and foreign countries, continued for a second day on Friday in western Herat province.

The three-day event opened on Thursday at the historic Ikhtyaruddin Palace is a joint venture of the Roya Film Company and the Arman Shahr Film Productions to celebrate the international women‘s day, organiser Roya Sadat said.

She told Pajhwok Afghan News a great number of film lovers attended the event on its second day. She said they selected Herat for the festival because it had witnessed less number of incidents of violence this year, compared to other provinces.

Another organiser, Siddique Barmak, said films and documentaries from worldwide were shown at the festival, with most of the stories related to women’s lives.

Afghan, Indian, Thai, Iranian and Turkish films were presented to film lovers in a bid to promote competition and send out the message of peace, another organiser, Rohullah Amin, said.
