KABUL): Four children were injured when a warhead they were playing with went off in southern Ghazni province, while a 16-yearl old girl was found stabbed to death in northern Takhar, officials said on Sunday.

The children, aged between eight and 12 years, had found the explosive in a desert in the Arzo area on the outskirts of Ghazni city, the provincial capital. It exploded when the children started playing with it, said the civil hospital director, Baz Mohammad Himmat, who added they were in a stable condition.

Mohammad Gul, whose brother was among the injured boys, said it was a new warhead.

In Takhar, a girl abducted two days ago from her home in Shor Tokhi area of the Bahauddin district, was found stabbed to death with a knife in the Katikjar area on Saturday, the governor’s spokesman said.

Syed Suliman Murdi said the girl identified as Gul Bibi had been stabbed seven times.

Although motive behind the murder remained unclear, police had arrested one of the girl’s family members on the suspicion of being involved, he said.
