JALALABAD (PAN): A three-day anti-polio campaign, targeting 86,000 children below the age of five years, began in eastern provinces on Sunday, an official said.
Nangarhar Public Health Director Dr. Baz Mohammad Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News 512,000 children below two years would be given anti-parasite capsules as part of the campaign that involved 5,800 volunteers.
Deputy governor Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal said every Afghan should contribute to the vaccination campaign in order to completely eliminate the disease. He asked the campaigners to reach out to every child.
However, Kuchi families in Nangarhar and neighbouring Kunar province have been complaining that their thousands of children remained deprived of polio drops.
