LAGHKARGAH (PAN): President Hamid Karzai, accompanied by some Cabinet ministers and lawmakers, arrived in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, on Tuesday, an official said.
The president reached the city at 11:30am, the official said, adding he planned to meet local officials and representatives of women‘s rights groups and youth organisations before addressing a gathering of tribal elders and the provincial council members.
Karzai visit comes as seven civilians, including three women, were killed in two separate incidents of violence. Five people, including a woman, were killed when a roadside bomb ripped through a tractor-trolley in the Khanshin district.
Two girls were killed when a Taliban-fired rocket hit a house in the Musa Qala town, officials said.
