KABUL.

“This assertion from the President is against the national interest because it can push the country into new political crisis,” the Cooperation Councils of Political Parties and Coalitions of Afghanistan (CCPPCA) said in a statement.

The coalition, representing 22 political parties and two coalitions, said said such rhetoric was irresponsible and could endanger critical Western support, insisting Karzai’s allegations did not represent the views of the people of Afghanistan toward their international friends.
“The president’s remarks are part of a series of deliberate actions that push Afghanistan toward disaster,” the parties said. “Creating such provocations against the international community is an escape from national interest.

Karzai has said the US and the Taliban talked on a daily basis in Qatar and Europe. He said the suicide attacks that killed 19 people, including children, in Khost and Kabul by the Taliban were in the service of the United States.

“Such expressions will hurt Afghanistan’s prestige”, said Faizullah Zaki, who speaks for the National Front of Afghanistan, in the coalition. He said Afghanistan could not achieve progress with regard to its development, peace and stability in the absence of foreign aid. “Such irresponsible accusations will leave Afghanistan isolated among the international community,” he remarked.

Hamidullah Farooqi, the Right and Justice Party spokesman, said though Karzai had expressed his personal views, yet his assertions could put Afghanistan into deep trouble.
