Rebel attack on Shindand airbase foiled, 4 held

HERAT CITY (PAN): Acting on intelligence reports, Afghan National Army (ANA) commandos detained five insurgents allegedly planning an attack on a military base in the Shindand district of western Herat province, an official said on Friday.

ANA’s 207th Zafar Military Cops spokesman Col. Nasto Nasari said “a large quantity of explosives and weapons were recovered from the detainees.” Their target was the Shindand Military Airbase, he said.
