KABUL, one of the five largest international historical marvels, has reached Melbourne after seven years of travel, an official said.

The treasure including 231 historical objects — some of them 3,000 years old — in would be showcased in Australia under a contract signed between the Ministry of Information and Cultural and the Australian embassy in Kabul.

Director-General of Afghanistan National Museum Omara Khan Massoudi, told Pajhwok Afghan News the artifacts were shifted to Paris for an international exhibition in 2006 before being taken to Italy, the Netherlands, the US, Canada, the UK, Sweden and Norway.

Different countries evinced a keen interest in the artifacts, whose display had earned Afghanistan nearly $3million, he added. The masterpieces would be displaced on Wednesday in Melbourne, he said. After the four months show, the objects would be shifted to three more museums for a year.
