HERAT CITY (PAN-dominated areas of western Herat province, officials said on Sunday.
Pashto-medium schools have to be set up for Pashtun students under the Construction, which says that children have the right to be taught in their mother tongue.
The governor‘s spokesman, Mohiuddin Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News the education department had been directed to establish the schools.
A request to the effect came from tribal elders during a March 14 meeting with the governor, he said. Dari is the medium of instruction at 800 schools in the province, where Pashtun students face problems.
“Many of our students would prefer getting education in mosques instead of schools due to having problems with the medium of instruction” said a tribal elder from Gulran district, Haji Tila Mohammad.
