Team named to probe Quran desecration
Some media outlets reported a few days ago the Muslim holy book had been insulted in the Musa Qala district by a man wearing a police uniform desecrated.
The blasphemer allegedly tried to provoke the people and opened fire on police during a subsequent protest, officials said, adding four civilians were killed in return fire from police.
Karzai had sent a delegation, led by his advisor Mohammad Siddique, to investigate the incident in Musa Qala district, a statement from his office said.
The team would discuss the issue with the Helmand governor, security and judicial officials and submit its findings to the president within one week, the statement added.
