80pc of Afghan areas secure: ISAF
Afghan security personnel would gin complete control across the country by the end of this spring, said Gunter Katz, spokesman of the NATO-led force.
Following the 2014 end to its combat mission, ISAF would train and advise Afghan forces, he told reporters in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
Many operations were successfully and independently conducted by the local forces that had become capable of defeating the Taliban, he said.
The Afghan forces were faced with problems in developing a full-fledged air force and ISAF would train them to address the issue, he promised.
