JALALABAD (PAN): Seven fighters were killed and three others wounded during a clash with security personnel in the Alishang district of eastern Laghman province on Thursday, an official said.
The four-hour firefight occurred in the Deh Qazi area of the district in the afternoon, Laghman police chief, Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He the bodies of six militants still lay at the site. At least one policeman suffered slight injuries in the clash, which ended after the fighters fled, he said.
But resident Suleman Khan said the gunbattle was ongoing as of 7pm and dwellers chose to stay indoors. There was no immediate comment from the Taliban.
