KABUL): Two Australian soldiers were wounded in a bomb blast in southern Helmand province on Sunday, the Defence Department in Sydney said.
An improvised explosive device hit a patrol in the southern province, injuring the two Australians, a coalition soldier and two Afghan personnel.
A statement from the department said one of the Australians and the coalition soldier were airlifted to a nearby medical facility. The remaining casualties returned to the base in Tirinkot.
“The patrol uncovered three additional IEDs within a compound of interest. The commander on the ground cordoned off the compound to ensure no civilians entered the area.”
