TIRINKOT (PAN projects in central Uruzgan province, the governor said on Sunday.
Amir Mohammad Akhundzada said this at a meeting attended by central government officials and foreign dignitaries in Tirinkot, the provincial capital.
The visiting delegation included Australian embassy representatives and deputy ministers of rehabilitation and rural development and public works, the governor’s spokesman said.
Abdullah Himmat told Pajhwok Afghan News the Australian reconstruction aid would be spent through the two ministries over the next three years.
The governor promised paying greater attention to the construction of roads in the province to resolve transport problems and boost people’s economy.
Deputy Minister of Rehabilitation and Rural Development Mohammad Tariq Asmati said most of the funds would be spent on constructing 160 kilometres of roads in Uruzgan.
Ahmad Shah Waheed, the deputy minister of public health, said they were trying to generate funds for building a highway linking Uruzgan with neighbouring Kandahar province.
