Taliban district chief among 7 held in Herat
Mullah Sharafuddin, the Taliban district chief, and a
nother rebel commander, Maulvi Juma Khan, were arrested in separate operations, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Safi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Two more Taliban were arrested with weapons and ammunitions during another operation in the Kashk-i-Kohna district, he said.
Separately, a six-member rebel group joined the peace process in Guzra district. They fought against foreign troops.
After the withdrawal of foreigners, there would be no excuse for war, so they had shunned fighting, commander of the group, Qari Sami, said.
