KABUL): The Spanish government on Tuesday granted $26 million to the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and the United Nations for the uplift of northwestern Badghis province, officials said.
Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Wais Barmak thanked the representative of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation for the assistance which would improve the living standards of Afghans.
After signing the agreement, Barmak said the money would be spent on a water supply system in Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital, strengthening local governance, access to services through infrastructure projects.
The aid would be spent through local development councils, he said, adding a large portion of the money would go to a water supply project in the Qala-i-Naw in the next two years.
